Hey there! Guess what?

Your task today is to make friends!

I know, right?

You have plenty already, blah blah blah, it's too much work.

But here's the thing - do you have friends who do not see you as a professional object? (I know, ouch.)

Talking with this friend shouldn't be a networking meeting - it should be a reunion of souls.

Spend time with people who literally have no connection whatsoever to your work - and that can include your volunteering, too!

We all want to stand out in some way - that's normal. But thinking or feeling like performing your way to stardom is the only way to do that is a trap.

Hey friends! Here's the word of the day: space.

When we're talking about performance objectification, the first thing you need is space.

As you are able, especially this holiday season, take some space, because space provides us with perspective.

The main goal of any time off should be to take a break from work, and re-invest into your relationships, including your relationship with God and your relationship with yourself.

Think about it - if even God made it a point to totally and completely rest for one day out of the week, you can, too.

Saying yes does not mean say yes right now. Before you answer, pause.

Even if you want to say yes, and you know you're probably going to say yes even after your pause, still give yourself that room.

It gives you time to look at the impact this may have on your schedule and other responsibilities.

It also gives you the time to seek the counsel of others who may be impacted, like your partner or children.

Finally, it gives you time to inquire of the Lord and see if this is a door He would have you walk through.

Tuesday Tip!

Before you say yes, you need to THINK:

Is the person asking me to commit Trustworthy?

Is this opportunity Healthy right now?

Is this an Intelligent move right now?

Is this yes Necessary to reach my goals?

Finally, does this yes advance the Kingdom?

Faith Over Fear

Sometimes God says no, too. God says not right now, often. It doesn't mean you're not worthy. It doesn't mean that you're broken, damaged, or otherwise not worth the effort.

It usually means one of two things - either you are being protected, or you are going to be receiving something better down the line.

Don't confuse a seeming negative response as a judgment on your worth.

How to say not right now, and mean it.

How to say not right now, and mean it.

Not right now doesn't mean as soon as the other person wants it - it means as soon as you are able to safely handle it within your boundaries, priorities, and other responsibilities.

Here's what that looks like.
"I will be able to do (x) after (a, b, and c) are completed."
"I am not able to (x) at this time. I am available at (x) time or (x) time, which works better for you?"

When you say not right now, you mean not right now, because you have conflicting priorities.

Don't drown yourself trying to help someone else not sink their own boat.
